Lyrics Sketching with Water

On this page you’ll find the lyrics to my latest Album/EP “Sketching with Water”

Sketching with Water

sketching with water
we try and we guess
drawing our future
aiming for nothing less

we fail
we fall
then fill ourselves with doubt

we sail
until we feel small
I know I will never know it all

I’m sketching with water
I try and I guess
designing myself a future
because I can, but can’t escape life’s beautiful mess

She’s a Writer

there’s a book in her hands
always a book in her hands
all those wishes inside her
she calls them her friends

she talks to the characters she’s made up
she sings the poems that keep her up at night
but something tells her: don’t write don’t write don’t write
you will never be a writer

looking at herself she sees
nothing special and especially
she’s not even smart enough a girl
so why would anyone in this world listen to her words

but she
finally opens the book
the empty pages they shout at her
she knows she should be proud of who she is

so she starts to write
she writes down the words
that should get out of her way
she should get out of her way today

no one, nothing, no one
should ever be allowed to say
she can’t be who she wants to be
not even she
not even she

there’s a book in her hands
always a book in her hands
and wishes bloom inside her
she trusts her friends

she talks to the characters she’s made up
she sings the poems that keep her up at night
nothing can stop her: she writes she writes she writes
she knows someday she’ll be a writer

she’s already a writer
she’s always been a writer
she’s already a writer

Golden Fires

when you think of what I said what are you feeling now
would you let me take a photo of the conversations in your heart
are you listening when I am playing piano in my thoughts
do you recognize the movements, can you feel the dance inside

would you watch with me
would you see
the same things I see

when we hurt
do we hurt
do we hurt
the same

I’ve got these golden fires
I feel these golden fires

somehow we’re stuck within ourselves
can’t help but try to share
it hits me with relief as I get closer to what I

can’t bear
alone
at least that’s what we share
alone

I’ve got these golden fires
I feel these golden fires

can you feel them too
can you feel them too
do you feel them

Float

is there such a thing as solid ground
or do we all just float
do we all come down
to what we think
to what we have found
do we just collect
what makes us proud

we float
do we float
we float
do we float

these chords they take me back in time
they never to tell me, they refuse to tell me why
these random days get to have a special place
why I can’t control my own memories

I float
I just go
I don’t know
where the water will take me
where the water will take me
where the water will take me

singing songs feels to me like sketching
trying to connect the raindrops I’ve been catching
making notes and some fluent scratches
safely storing the edges of the feelings that pass me
way too fast
I need most things to last
longer than they do
rushing is a place I don’t like to go to
let’s try to stretch time sometimes sometimes
we’ll see if it rhymes if it rhymes if it rhymes
let’s try to stretch time sometimes sometimes

while we float
we just go
we don’t know
where the water will take us
where the water will take us
where the water will take us

Dream

when you fall asleep
next to me
I’ll stay awake
to catch the sounds that might break
the serenity
my dream is for you to dream

dream, dream away
dream, dream away

my eyes
start to rest
when you smile
to a sky
in a place I’ll never be
if only you could let me see

dream, dream with me
dream, dream with me

dreams, they always
dreams, they show me the way
dreams, they know me
dreams, they always

sleep tight
drift away, tonight
will you let my arms
wrap gently around your heart
every single night
